Are you ready for this one? Strap in tight and get ready for one of the
most stomach churning, mind bending, gut wrenching levels you've ever played.
I've loaded this level with tons of cool stuff, including my crowning achievement,
flowing lava!!!!! (looks real cool, I haven't seen any other levels with this
feature so I'm assuming I'm the first.) I even put in a room where the lava is
"whirlpooling" through a tiny drain! Anyway hope you enjoy it. I spent lots
of time adjusting everything to make it just right so it should look great.
I tried not to make it too difficult but it gets pretty darn hard on the "ace"
setting, and I haven't been able to beat it on "insane" yet (I did get half way
through though). Also, I tried to keep multi-player in mind while making this
level, even though I didn't make it specifically for anarchy or co-op. Drop me a
line after you play it and tell me what you think. I want your input!
Ok, now for the story:
Well as it turned out, more than just thirty mines were infested in the first
invasion of the alien forces. There were some smaller mines that were infested at
the same time others, but the 'bots decided to take over these mines differently than
the larger ones. Because their defense in these mines was not as high as in the
larger ones, they decided to lay low and continued to go about their routine tasks
while secretly fortifying their position. Well it turns out that the PTMC didn't know
the smaller mines were infested, so, trying to save a few billion dollars, they
didn't get you to blow them up.
After you rampaged through the solar system, destroying every mine the PTMC
had told you about, they kicked you out of the system. After you left, the 'bots
in the mines surviving your first strike began to analyze your attack patterns, and
they realized that the mines' main weakness, which you exploited each time, was the fusion
reactor. Upon realizing this, they secretly began construction on a geothermal
power source, one that runs off the heat energy in lava, a resource they had in
abundance. This new generator, once completed, wouldn't be susceptible to meltdown
like the original fusion reactor, thus the mine would be virtually indestructible.
Because the 'bots were still performing their routine tasks as well as constructing
their new power station, their efficiency was compromised. Because this mine was not
turning much of a profit (something the PTMC did not tolerate), an investigation
was conducted. During the investigation, a PTMC official stumbled onto the 'bots
secret project. When the 'bots realized they had been discovered, they quickly took
over the mine, even though their new generator had not been completed yet. The PTMC
panicked and quickly called you back to the solar system and explained the situation.
Since the 'bots have sealed off the normal entry, you will be inserted into a small
ventilation shaft that is believed to run straight to the reservoir of lava used to fuel their
new power source. Once inside, there should be a conduit sucking up lava and
pumping it into their new generator. Use it to inflitrate their stronghold. Be sure to
work quickly, it is only a matter of time before they take the fusion reactor off line,
thereby making the mine practically invincible, therefore, it is imperative that you deal
with the 'newest threat' to our solar system as quickly as possible.
That will be all material defender, prepare for descent.

Whew! That was one long text file! (sorry I got a little long-winded but
I had a lot to say) You deserve a reward for reading all of that. I'm going to tell
you a cool secret. There is a super duper secret area in the mine that I like to call
"The Armory." It's packed with everything you could ever want! (no I'm not telling
you where it is) See if you can find it without cheating! ;)
