The Gantlet was designed by Acl ( a.k.a. Mark Berry ) Using Devil level editor. The purpose of this level is to give Descent2 pilots a way to rank themselves against other pilots, without the possibility of LAG or Packet Loss effecting the out come. You can Run The Gantlet by yourself for practice, and then show off on Kali with your friends. If you think you got a good time, and you want your name up in your own little corner of cyberspace. Submit your time a http://af1.angelfire.com/ca/TheGantlet/index.html You must submit your email and the email of your timer, the date you made your run, and how many shields you had left when you finished. Any disputes will be settled by contacting the timer to verify your time. If the time is just too good to be true, I will time you myself. If you come with in 1 second of your reported time in 3 or less tries, I will post the time. Here is how to time the run: The RUNNER starts the level with these very specific settings: Coop - Shortpacket YES - Packtes Per sec 5 Brightships OFF - Indistructable lights, and most importantly, it must be set to INSANE to be a valid run. The timer will be inserted in the mine in front of a red checkerboard wall. This is the TIMING wall. The runner will be inserted in front of the start door. This is providing that the "runner" started the level. The runner fires a couple of flares (not at the door) to signle ready. The timer returns a couple of flares as he/she is ready. Then the runner may start anytime he is ready after that. The timer will start the time on the "SIGHT" of the timing wall opening, NOT on sound. This is very important for accuracy. Everyone has to do it the same or whats the point in timing it? ( hint: The timer can use [shift]+F1 or [shift]+f2 to toggle one of the windows on the screen to show the view of the runner. This makes the timers job a bit more bearable, and it helps to ready the timer for the finish.) The timers stops the time when the wall closes, again on sight and not on sound. Submit your time, you and your timers email, the date you made your run and how many shields you had left when you finished. Well good luck and I will see you in the mines! Acl is out!
