=========================================================================== Title : Toscana 2 Date Finished : 9/14/97 Author : Brian Kiser E-mail Address : wb_renfield@geocities.com (check the below web page to ensure that you have my current address.) Homepage : http://www.geocities.com/TimesSquare/Realm/1612/ Callsign : Renfield and Resik Original Description : (Description edited to maintain truth about level) My first attempt at a Minerva style mine, this is my second level. About the same size, as Minerva I think, but seems smaller. Also, no Megas, cloaks, or invulns. I don't like them, and neither does Pooterman. D2 Toscana Description : (Description Edited to maintain truth about level) This is Toscana in Descent II format. I changed a few textures so everything looks right. It's not exactly how I would like it to be, but its just as playable as the Descent I version. I added some of D2's weapons (no Megas, or smartmines [See below note about Earthshakers]) but all other weapons are there. Hope you enjoy it! Current Description : Well, this is my latest version of Toscana. I have taken advantage of the latest features (such as blinking lights and customized robots), and made it compatable with flag and hoard modes. You can also play coop, where its you and your friends vs. ThiefBots! Play this on Anarchy for best results. Also, I have NEVER played hoard mode. The reason for this is that Hoard games are very rare on Kahn for some reason, and because of Descent2's requiring the CD to be in the drive, I have been unable to get a Null-modem connect between my two computers, because my other computer's CD drive died :( . BTW, don't worry about the ThiefBots running out ;) *** N O T E A B O U T E A R T H S H A K E R *** I DID include ONE EARTHSHAKER. I HATE EARTHSHAKERS!!!! However, I recommend that you leave them enabled in this level, because its HIDDEN BEHIND THE EXIT DOOR, and WONT COME INTO PLAY until after the reactor's blown, then 1 person will have an opportunity to get 1 last kill. However, on anarchy, you only have 20 seconds to get to the exit before meltdown (this is just barely enough time (I usualy make it with 1 sec to spare, or even a few times where the screen started to fade to white!) so you don't really have alot of time to get kills after blowing the reactor (especialy if you're the one that blew it!) I thought that this was the best way to include earthshakers. If you don't like this idea, just disable Earthshakers. Problem solved! Mission Objective : Kill, but don't get dead (duh) =========================================================================== Level # : 1 Single Player : Yes (there ARE ThiefBots, and they're pretty smart) Co-Op : Yes (same as Single player) Anarchy : Yes Flag : Yes Hoard : Yes (see above note in "Current Description") Note about scoring : When playing any type of game with the robots enabled, each kill gives you 100 points. This helps you to keep track of Robot kills in Single, and coop games. (just take off the last 2 zeros from your score eg. 2100 points = 21 kills) * Construction * Base : New level from scratch Build Time : 24 or so (I'm just learning for cryin' out loud:) Editor(s) used : Devil 1.22g for level design, DMB2 1.6 for lighting Known Bugs : I still can't figure out how to align textures in DMB2, and when I was finishing up the lighting, I accidentaly messed up on of the textures. If I would have tried to re-align the texture in Devil (a much better editor anyway in my opinion), I would have lost all lighting effects, and my custom robots. But, don't fret... this level is dark enough (especialy when a few lights get blown out) that you can't really see texture errors anyway. (If you can, you're not paying enough attention to the battle!!! ;) * Copyright / Permissions * Authors MAY use this level as a base to build additional levels ON ONE CONDITION: Send me an email saying that you modified my level, and what you've named it. I would like to see what you did with it! (and hey, give me credit, eh?) You MAY distribute this level, provided you include this file, with no modifications. You may distribute this file in any electronic format (BBS, Diskette, CD, etc) as long as you include this file intact. That is all, Material Defender. -=Good luck and good Hunting=-
